Data Not Collected
Synapse: Device Check (“Synapse,” “the app,” “we,” or “us”) is a hardware diagnostic tool that runs entirely on your iPhone. We built it to be private by design: the app does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data.
None. Synapse does not collect personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers. We have no servers that receive your data, and the app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
All tests run locally on your device. The app requests access to certain hardware so it can verify that hardware is functioning. This access is used only to perform the test you initiate, and the results are shown only on your screen:
None of the data produced by these tests — photos, audio, location, sensor readings, or test results — is saved off-device, uploaded, or shared. It exists only for the duration of the test and is discarded afterward.
Any image or audio captured during a test is processed in memory solely to display the test to you and is not written to your photo library or sent anywhere.
When you complete a full diagnostic, the app can generate a pass/fail certificate image on your device. This image is created locally. If you choose to share it (for example, in a resale listing), that sharing happens entirely under your control through the standard iOS share sheet. We never receive a copy.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Synapse does not see or store your payment information. Apple’s handling of purchases is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Synapse does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
